Workin' On rendering and lighting!

I'm going to render this and add lighting- 1st, 2nd, and 3rd point lighting(main, fill, back light).
As of right this second, it kinda looks like a weird squirrel or animal that's raising an arm, or doing an awesome power stance-you know, something like that. And I'm certain that it'll look even cooler when it's rendered and has lighting to it!

Lightsaber blueprints

These are some images from google that I will use as referance photos for the lightsaber that I'm going to make. The ones that appear larger are ones that will be slightly more helpful detail wise-mainly small details.

Lightsaber!

I'm going to start a new project! It's going to be a lightsaber- from Star Wars. Specifically from "Return of the Jedi"
I will have sample pictures of the details next time.

Vocabulary level 2:

  • Line: There are four basic definitions for "line." One would be that a line is a narrow mark like _______ that. Or it could be a type of material that is contributing to a specific purpose(such as rope or wire). The third is one that most people are familiar, it is to stand in a narrow lining in equivilent intervales. And the last definition is to mark or cover something with lines.
  • Shape: To form something, such as with bending or moving. Another definition could include the appearence/outline of something.

  • Form / Volume: Form-A physical shape of something-to band together. Volume-Space that something can hold;the amount of soemthing that can be carried.
  • Color: The property that is produced by certain sensations created or reacted to by the eye-this can be created by the reaction to the way light reflects off of something.

  • Value/Tone: Tone-to harmonize with color, Value-The assumed or guessed worth of something, the thought of something or someone having a type of appreciation to them-to think highly of something.
  • Texture: To give a type of rough or smooth sensation to something(the feel of granite, the look of concrete, etc.)
  • Space: Certain dimensons of depth of an object-there is a direct corilation to space and volume, for volume determines the space within something or that something can carry.
  • Perspective: Viewing something and noticing the direct relation of height, width, depth, position and the surrounding environment. Such as drawing a 2D picture and making it look 3D by adding depth to certain areas-you are changing the perspective.

Vocabulary Level 3:

  • Rhythm: Rhythm is a regular pattern, it is repeated throughout the pattern. It could also be found in certain movements.
  • Directional Movement: Also known as DMI, it is made of three different ideas-Average directional index, Plus directional index, and Minus directional index. In short, DMI is really meant to determine whether is some sort of trend.
  • Proportion / Scale: Proportion-Something that can see as relative to the whole, whether as size, numbers, etc. Scale- Scaling is when you enlarge or decrease the size of something, quite a lot of times it would be in order to make something look more proportionate.
  • Balance: There are several ways to describe this. One way is balancing something in order to offset and or to compare the value of something to another. Or it could be equally distributing something to keep things steady. Another way to define balance is "a condition in which different elements are equal or in the correct proportions." (this definition was quoted from Google.)
  • Unity: Being whole, or holding together-coming together.
  • Harmony: "the combination of simultaneously sounded musical notes to produce chords and chord progressions having a pleasing effect." Harmony does not have to be with just music though. Harmony, overall, is supposed to be something along the lines of agreeing. Harmony could also mean the equally agreed upon elements in a picture.
  • Contrast: a striking difference. Such as the contrast between colors used in a painting.
  • Emphasis (Focal Point / Center of interest): The significance or importance in something. A focal point can add emphasis to a photograph by contributing to the light around it. The center can add emphasis into a photograph by being somehow more dramatic and appearing with a sense of value compared to the rest of the picture.

Finished Helmet

I realize that I messed up on a lot, but we learn from our mistakes, you know.
I'm very proud to admit, I have finally finished the helmet.
Tada!

Helmet and Video Game

Okay, I didn't really get any further with my helmet... I am experiencing some technological difficulties since apparently computers and technology doesn't like me.
But, my partner and I will soon be presenting our video-game concept/idea. I'll put the link to our power-point here. This will give you the very basics. And, of course, we had over-complicated things and added a lot more detail, although we REALLY didn't have to in the long run to be honest.
I will most definitely have pictures of my helmet next time around!

It's been some time

Sadly, it's been some time since I've posted something really interesting. Well, here's some more of my helmet! I've actually added A LOT, and am proud of it so far.
There's finally the second half to the helmet. I'm currently working on working in a smooth set and the "normal" set-or also known as high resolution.
It's coming along great as of right now! I can't wait to continue working on it!

Definitions- Vocab lvl.4

  • Displacement Mapping- A map someone would use in order to map out ideas within a document
  • Bump Mapping- A technique used in order to simulate, and or create, bumps and wrinkles onto a 3D graphical design.
  • Rendering- A type of interpertation of what something would look like, sound like, feel like, smell like, etc.
  • Alpha Channel- How pixals, such as on a compterized 3D graphic design, would like if they were to lay on top each other.

  • NURBS vs Polygon- NURBS: A mathmatical shape often used in 3D graphics and designs, it is made to be more flexible and be handled somewhat easy vs. Polygon: A figure, or shape, that has at least sides, points and angles.

  • Tiling- To tile something- a tile is a slab of thin baked clay

  • Skinning- Either the formation of skin, such as skin covering a wound or layering skin unto something virtually-as in a graphic design.

  • Aperture- A type of opening

  • Shutter Speed- Also known as exposure time, it deals with how long a shutter is to stay open or close-it is the speed at which a shutter opens or closes

  • Focal Length- The distance from the lens to the point of focus

  • Dolly- To be moved in a specific direction on a computer

  • Pan- To make something larger, or smaller, in viewing-or moving about an image in several directions

Please Note that I got all my pictures from google
